Fort Steele Reopens June 22, 2025

We’re excited to welcome you back as we begin our soft opening season ahead of our Grand Opening Celebration on July 5. During this early phase, visitors can explore key buildings, enjoy wagon rides, and experience the charm of Fort Steele as we continue to prepare for a full season of programming. Opening Timeline

June 22 – Soft Opening Begins
Explore the town, stroll the boardwalks, and enjoy a sample of our signature experiences. Hours and offerings may vary slightly during this transition week as our team gets everything in place.

July 5 – Grand Opening Celebration
Join us for a day of festivities as we officially launch our 2025 season! Programming and hours will expand from this date forward. More details to follow.

What to Expect

Here’s what you can explore this weekend and throughout our soft launch period:

  • Visitor Centre & Gift Shop

  • Kershaw’s General Store

  • A selection of interpretive buildings

  • The Wasa Hotel Museum will be open

  • Wagon Rides (view the schedule on our Activities & Daily Schedule page)

  • Take-away eats from the International Hotel Restaurant - a brand new addition we’re thrilled to introduce!

  • Costumed interpreters throughout the site

As the season progresses, more buildings, activities, and programs will become available - stay tuned!

Plan Ahead

  • Wear comfortable footwear - some areas have uneven ground or slippery boardwalks when wet

  • Bring sunscreen, bug spray, and a water bottle

  • Check the forecast and prepare for changing weather conditions

  • Some activities may change day-to-day depending on staffing and weather

  • Cooling Stations:
    - Wasa Hotel Museum
    - Visitor Centre

Pet Policy

To ensure the safety of our livestock and create a welcoming environment for all visitors, pets are not permitted within Fort Steele Heritage Town.

Service animals are welcome. Please note that comfort or emotional support animals are not considered service animals under this policy. Visitors with service animals are asked to check in at the Visitor Centre upon arrival.

Please do not leave pets unattended in vehicles. We kindly ask that animals be left at home or in the care of a responsible caregiver.
