Activities & Daily Schedule

Every visit to Fort Steele offers something unique. Activities, building access, and interpretive programs may vary day to day, especially during our soft opening. Be sure to check in at the Visitor Centre when you arrive for the most up-to-date schedule.

Currently Offered

  • Wagon Rides (see schedule below)

  • Costumed Interpreters stationed throughout the site

  • Open Heritage Buildings, including:

    • Visitor Centre & Gift Shop

    • Kershaw’s General Store

    • Wasa Hotel Museum

    • A rotating selection of additional interpretive buildings and exhibits

  • Hands-on heritage experiences for all ages

Wagon Ride Schedule

 

Standard Town Wagon Rides

  • $7.50 per person (+ GST)

  • Up to 12 people per ride

  • Depart from outside the Wildhorse Theatre

  • Town Wagon Rides will run multiple times during each time block listed below

  • Each ride is approximately 10–15 minutes long

    • Town Rides: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  • Thursday, June 26

    • Town Rides: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM & 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

  • Friday, June 27

    • Town Rides: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM & 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

  • Saturday, June 28 to Wednesday, July 2

    • No wagon rides scheduled

  • Thursday, July 3

    • Town Rides: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM & 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

  • Friday, July 4

    • Town Rides: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM & 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

  • Saturday, July 5

    • Town Rides: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM & 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

  • Sunday, July 6

    • Town Rides: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM & 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

  • Monday, July 7

    • Town Rides: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM & 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

 

Weather Notice:
If the temperature is forecast to reach 28°C or higher, wagon rides may be suspended for animal safety. Updates will be posted on-site and at the Visitor Centre.

Plan Ahead

  • Wear comfortable footwear - some areas have uneven ground or slippery boardwalks when wet

  • Bring sunscreen, bug spray, and a water bottle

  • Check the forecast and prepare for changing weather conditions

  • Some activities may change day-to-day depending on staffing and weather
